Public WiFi

This is a problem. I hope by now you all know that using public WiFi without a condom is a no-no. Sorry about that. but I need to drive a point home. If you are using public Wifi hotspots (Starbucks, Barnes & Noble, McDonalds) you are opening yourself up to a world of trouble.

A friend of mine, Terry, asked me "How can I stay safe on a public Wifi hotspot?" I said "Very good question Terry". I know the most secure way of traversing the internet is through a VPN (Virtual Private Network). I went to research it. Googled it of course, spent many hours going through the many, many, reviews out there of VPN solutions. Long story short... my head is spinning! If you only do one thing... The easiest solution is: Only use websites/services that have a HTTPS before their URL address. This will help secure your connection. It's not fool proof.

If you want to be more secure, use a VPN service. A Virtual Private Network service will encrypt your data from your device (PC/Tablet/Mobile) to the destination URL. A VPN Service gives you a secure 'Tunnel' to the site you are connecting to. This is the best method (Other then not using public WiFi) that is out there.

There are many VPN service providers out there. Some, will slow your connection down, some may not have the best intentions when securing your data. Here are some links that may help you decide..

I am not endorsing any of the services below. Myself, I do not use public WiFi.
